Civray is situated in the Vienne department and Nouvelle Aquitaine region (what was the Poitou-Charentes region), in the west of France 48 kilometres from Poitiers, the department capital (general information: Civray is 338 kilometres from Paris).  It has the stunning Saint-Nicolas church, a 12th century Romanesque building. It is a beautiful example of architectural genius with its carved façade and colourful interior.

Civray also has its own cinema and has regular showing of movies in English.

Popular places to visit nearby include Ruffec at 15 km and Nanteuil-en-Vallee at 17 km and Verteuil-sur-Charente at 22kms away. Poitiers is about 55 kms away and very cosmopolitan, great for shopping as is Angouleme (capital of the Charente region) both also having stunning cathedrals and architectural wonders. We are on the Vienne/Charente border so the beautiful towns and villages of the Charente are just a short drive away.

Bastille Day

The most highly celebrated Bastille day occurs in force across our region. Civray boasts the largest Brocante on 14th July, which runs along the River Charente. There is a spectacular display of fireworks in the evening.
